Keeping The Dream Alive

In 1998 Rick started his first car, building it from the ground up.  Eighteen long months later, his
pride and joy, a 1923 Ford T-Bucket was complete.  Only a few years later, Rick built a 1930 Ford
Highboy Roadster, completing this project in less than a year.

As Rick and his cars became well-known in our small, River Valley community, many friends and
neighbors consulted Rick for help with fabrication and advice as they built their own rods.  Finally,
in 2007, Rick and his wife, LaVerne made the decision to take his passion for these special cars
public and opened
R&L Custom Rods in Pottsville, Arkansas

In the fall of 2008, Rick decided it was time to have a Rod you could enjoy year round.  In less than
a year, Rick completed a 1932 5-window Coupe "Rat Rod" which has not surprisingly brought
home a 1st Place trophy in its first car show of 2009!

The goal of R& L Custom Rods

"We are making the ultimate "Big Boy Toys"
and proving
these are cars that you can drive!"

"I've taken lazy afternoon rides.  I've driven them on the interstate
running between 70 and 90, depending on traffic.  Do I race them?
Every time I leave a stop light!  Yes, I've gotten wet, but then, it
wasn't raining when I started," laughs Rick.
